Works great on Pi 4b 4gb model. Some oddities with mouse pointer not lining up in GUI but overall it`s the best pi4b image out there.

Quick question ... all of the videos and websites regarding Pimiga mention the ROM key for the ROMs. Cloanto no longer requires a ROM key and it's not included in Amiga Forever. If it's required to make Pimiga work ... where do you get a ROM key?

The reason I asked the above question is ... I can't get Pimiga to work on a RPi 4 (4gb version). All I get is a blank screen. According to what I've read, the download I have is good (it asked for a password) and successfully wrote to a SD card. It just won't boot on a Pi4. I'm spitballing here but, I'm thinking it's the ROM key.

Lemming, thank you! Dom, I believe you. I did a search but the response from the site was that the search key was too short (rom key). This was a move of desperation. Thanks, though!

[...]Cloanto no longer requires a ROM key and it's not included in Amiga Forever.[...]
The Kickstart ROMs are still "encrypted" (hint: XOR is no encryption... hahaha :p) with the latest version of AMIGA Forever and require a rom.key. The rom.key is not included in the installation archive, but I think it will be generated when you register Amiga Forever (haven't tried).

Oh man, the key in so many archives here on the site... :cool:
There is not "the key". The "encryption" of the Kickstart ROMs from Cloanto depends on the version of Amiga Forever and requires the appropriate key to "decrypt".

The Cloanto rom.keys I know are:
* rom.key 1997
* rom.key 2006
* rom.key 10.0
* rom.key 10.0 Amiga Forever Essentials For Android
* rom.key 11.0

Have fun! ;)

Well, I purchased Amiga Forever 8 Plus Edition and I can say pretty definitively that there was no ROM key. In fact, in correspondence with Amiga Forever, I mentioned its omission and they specifically mentioned that it's no longer included or needed. And the ROM's I've used in WINuae have worked flawlessly without a key. That's why I was surprised that I needed a key for Pimiga. But, it's working now, so it's a moot point. Thank you for the information, though.

I know this is confusing. Yes, Cloanto says "Amiga Forever Plus Edition ROMs are not encoded, and thus do not need a "rom.key" file." hxxps://www.amigaforever.com/kb/16-128
But you can tell by the file size if it is encoded or not. Original Kickstart ROM sizes are 262144 (256kB) or 524288 (512kB) bytes, Cloanto ROM sizes are 262155 or 524299 bytes.

Found the following in WinUAE changelog:
- added support for amigaforever.dll (optional rom.key alternative)

That's why it works there without a rom.key (and other emulators on Windows systems that have support for amigaforever.dll).

On some games i get this error “DOS-Error #205 (object not found) on reading "devs:kickstarts/rom.key” any one know how to fix this error? I already have placed the rom.key in the KICK partition as it says in the document, but i still get this error.

thanks a lot, it works indeed. I tried to use my own legal ROMS, but doesn't seem to work. The kick partition is useless, you have to move the roms to /mnt/dietpi_userdata/pimiga/Disks/system/Devs/Kickstart ; otherwise you'll get a bunch of errors with WHDload.

There's quite a lot of possible optimizations regarding the behaviour of amiberry and the included files. Trying to change emulations params within Amiberry (like using a different, legit owned ROM) results in a black screen.

Beware also, there's a large number of virus in the included programs.
